What is VPS?
A dedicated server is divided into multiple parts through virtualization technology to create smaller servers, and these servers are called VPS servers. Each of these VPS servers works as an independent server and has its own operating system, storage, RAM, and processor, although it is part of the main dedicated server. The full form of VPS is (Virtual Private Server).
There are basically two types of VPS: Unmanaged VPS and Managed VPS. There is no difference between managed and unmanaged VPS in terms of hardware. But there is a difference in terms of price.
In the case of unmanaged VPS, the hosting provider will only install the operating system on the VPS server, after which you will have to do all the work yourself. That is, you will have to configure everything you need according to your requirements. The advantage of unmanaged VPS is that the price of unmanaged VPS is lower than managed VPS, because here you will do the server management yourself, so you do not have to pay management fees to the hosting provider.
In the case of managed VPS, the hosting provider will install the operating system of your VPS server and do all the configuration. If you want to host websites, apps, etc. on your VPS, the hosting provider will host it, that is, your hosting provider will do all the work on the server end. However, you will also have access to the server and you can do any work yourself if you want.
Let’s see how VPS works through an example: Suppose you have a computer with a configuration of: 8 core CPU, 8 GB RAM and 240 GB storage. Now, using some software, you divide your computer into 4 small parts with a configuration of 2 core CPU, 2 GB RAM and 60 GB storage. Each part will work like a separate computer, so you can use these 4 between 4 users. Here, your computer is a dedicated server, the 4 small parts are VPS servers, and the software through which it is divided into 4 parts is virtualization technology. In this way, a dedicated server is divided and a VPS is created.
What type of website is VPS best for?
Generally, VPS hosting is best for medium to large level websites. If you are starting a new website then shared hosting will be better for you, but if you want to start e-commerce or large projects then you should definitely go for VPS hosting. Also, if your website has minimum daily traffic of 5000+ then you can easily get VPS, it depends on the website structure and many other things.
Actually it will depend entirely on you. If you are a techie person and can manage servers then you can take unmanaged VPS as it will reduce your cost. Again if you want to learn server management then you can start with unmanaged VPS.
If you do not have any prior knowledge about VPS hosting, you can opt for Managed VPS, because here you do not have to do any work on the VPS server, the hosting provider will do all the work on the server end. However, the cost of managed VPS will be a little higher.

If your website does not have visitors or if you are starting a new website, then VPS is not for you, in this case you can start with shared hosting. At the same time, if you have budget problems and do not have experience in server management, then shared hosting is the best choice for you.
If you want to increase the speed of your site and ensure security, VPS hosting can be your best choice. Besides, now almost everything is moving to the cloud and its demand will increase several times in the future, so if you want to learn cloud / server management, you can start with VPS hosting. The website that you are running on shared hosting now, or are going to start, will grow in the future and then you will be forced to move to VPS and then suddenly you will not be able to understand anything by moving to VPS, you will have to face various problems or take a managed VPS.
